Growing up in the small town of Kingsville, she hadn’t yet dreamed of being an actor, but instead dreamed of being the next famous Olympic gymnast or ice skater. After moving to Houston, she eventually decided to go on an artistic route and joined her high school's theatre group. That lead to a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre with an acting emphasis from Sam Houston State University. She also graduated from the Honors College with highest honors and Magna Cum Laude. In Texas, she enjoyed working in a couple of short films and a wide range of plays and musicals including such titles as Thoroughly Modern Millie, Stick Fly, Steel Magnolias, and The Marvelous Wonderettes.
